World Birth Defects Day
After realizing that birth defects are a leading cause of death in the first year of life,
and babies who survive may be physically or mentally disabled, taking a costly toll on their families,
communities and nations. World Birth Defects Day was created to bring together various organizations globally
to carry out awareness raising on birth defects every year on March 3, about this serious global problem and
advocate for more surveillance, prevention, care and research to help babies and children. Infants' Health Foundation was selected
as a partner and representing Uganda as World Birth Defects Day Partner since 2019.
